Connect Google Search Console
Add https://mowteng.app/mcp to your assistant and sign in with Google. Leave the Search Console permission ticked. Google Search Console connects at sign-in; you do not need a Google Cloud project, an API key or your own OAuth client. Choose an assistant from the integration guides for the exact steps.
Start with gsc_list_sites, which returns accessible properties and your permission level. If your site is missing, check the Google account you used. You can add a property with gsc_add_site, but ownership must still be verified in Search Console before data appears. Follow the site verification guide if the property is new.
Ask about performance with a clear scope
gsc_search_analytics returns clicks, impressions, CTR and average position grouped by query, page, country, device, date or search appearance. It supports up to 1,000 rows per call, with paging. gsc_performance_overview provides site totals and the daily trend for the last N days, including impression-weighted average position.
For my main property, compare the last 28 days with the previous 28 days. Show the ten pages with the largest click losses, with impressions, CTR and average position for both periods.
Use ready-made analyses to narrow the work
mowteng computes striking distance queries at average positions 11–20, ordered by impressions. Its cannibalization analysis finds queries where two or more pages each receive at least 10% of impressions. Content decay compares equal periods and skips pages with fewer than 10 clicks in the earlier period.
You can also compare any two date ranges by query, page, country or device. Ask for the pages and query rows behind a finding before choosing an edit. These analyses help locate a change; the data alone does not establish its cause.
Inspect indexing and sitemaps
gsc_inspect_url reports Google index status, last crawl, canonical and rich results for one URL. The index audit checks a sitemap, sitemap index or URL list with paging. Both use the property’s URL Inspection quota of 2,000 inspections per day; see URL Inspection quota help when planning a larger audit.
gsc_list_sitemaps returns submitted and indexed counts, errors and warnings. You can submit or resubmit with gsc_submit_sitemap, or remove a sitemap with gsc_delete_sitemap. Removing a sitemap leaves already indexed pages indexed. Write tools are marked so assistants ask before running them. Search data is fetched live and never stored by mowteng.
