Submit to IndexNow from your AI assistant

Tell participating IndexNow engines about added or changed URLs with a reviewed request from your assistant.

What IndexNow submission does

IndexNow tells participating engines about URLs you added or changed. Through mowteng, your assistant calls indexnow_submit to send those notifications in one call. The engines are Bing, Yandex, Seznam, Naver, Yep, Internet Archive and Amazonbot. Google does not take part.

This is a change notification, not a search performance report or a promise that a page will be indexed. A notified engine still decides how to crawl and process a URL. Use Google Search Console tools to inspect Google’s index status; IndexNow cannot provide that answer.

Prepare the site key file

IndexNow needs no account, but the site must host a key file: a text file containing only the key. Make that file available on your site before asking the assistant to submit URLs. The IndexNow setup guide walks through the preparation.

Connect mowteng to your assistant with https://mowteng.app/mcp and Google sign-in. That sign-in belongs to the mowteng connection. IndexNow itself does not require you to connect a Bing or Yandex account. Keep the site key and the Google connection distinct when diagnosing a setup problem.

Ask for a precise submission

Provide the changed URLs and the key-file details for the site you prepared. Submit the public URLs you intend engines to crawl, rather than local preview addresses. Review the list for accidental staging URLs, redirects or the wrong host before approving the action.

Ask your assistant

I have published the IndexNow key file for my site. Review these three changed public URLs and the key-file details, then ask me before submitting them through IndexNow.

indexnow_submit is a write action, marked so assistants ask before running it. mowteng never edits your site’s pages or creates the key file on the site for you. Publishing that file is part of your site setup.

Choose the right follow-up check

After submission, keep crawl requests separate from evidence of indexing. A sitemap helps engines discover URLs, while a change notification tells participating engines that specified URLs have changed. Neither proves that a URL is now in search. See the crawl and indexing request guide for the differences.

For Bing-specific work, Bing Webmaster Tools also offers URL submission and crawl issue reports. Yandex Webmaster provides recrawl requests and a site summary. Choose the tool that matches the engine and question, then inspect the returned data rather than assuming a successful request resolved an indexing problem.
